Schwarzkopf BlondMe Blonde Toning: A Salon Guide

Schwarzkopf BlondMe Blonde Toning is a demi-permanent toning system for pre-lightened hair, used to neutralise unwanted warmth and create cool, pastel or warm blonde tones with high shine. It is part of the wider BlondMe blonding system alongside lighteners, bond enhancement and lift-and-tone shades.

What is BlondMe toning?

BlondMe toning shades deposit tone onto already-lightened hair without further lift. They are designed to refine the result after bleaching or highlighting – taking brassy or uneven blondes to a clean, controlled finish. Because they are demi-permanent, they fade softly and can be refreshed regularly.

The BlondMe blonde toning options

  • Blonde Toning & Pastel tones – for tone-on-tone refining of pre-lightened hair (cool, neutral, warm and pastel directions).
  • Blonde Lifting shades – lift and tone in one step on natural hair. We stock Lifting Ash, Lifting Sand and Lifting Steel Blue.
  • Deep Toning shades – richer, deeper blonde tones such as Deep Toning Nougat for low-lights and beige/bronde results.

How do you mix BlondMe toning?

Toning and pastel shades are typically mixed 1:2 with BlondMe 2% Premium Developer for a gentle tone-on-tone result. Blonde Lifting shades are mixed with a higher-volume developer (such as 6%, 9% or 12%) depending on the lift required. Always work from the current Schwarzkopf BlondMe chart and carry out an allergy/skin test before every service.

The full blonding workflow

  1. Lighten with BlondMe Premium Lightener 9+ (browse all bleach & lighteners).
  2. Rinse and assess the underlying pigment once lifted.
  3. Tone with the appropriate BlondMe Blonde Toning or Pastel shade, mixed 1:2 with 2% developer.
  4. Finish with bond and blonde-care to maintain tone between visits.

Frequently asked questions

What developer do you use for BlondMe toning?
Blonde Toning and Pastel shades are usually mixed 1:2 with BlondMe 2% Premium Developer for a gentle tone-on-tone result.

Can BlondMe tone brassy hair?
Yes. Cool BlondMe toning shades neutralise yellow and orange tones in pre-lightened hair for a cleaner blonde.

What is the difference between BlondMe Lifting and Toning?
Lifting shades lighten and tone natural hair in one step; Toning shades add tone to hair that has already been lightened.

Do I need to pre-lighten before toning?
For pale or pastel results, yes – lighten with a product such as BlondMe Premium Lightener 9+ first, then tone.
