L'Oreal has consolidated its ammonia-free Dia range, and Dia Richesse has become harder to source in the UK. For most salons, L'Oreal Dia Color is the recommended replacement, with Dia Light as the acidic-gloss alternative.
What's changing with Dia Richesse?
Dia Richesse has long been the richer, more opaque demi-permanent in L'Oreal Professionnel's Dia family. As the range has been streamlined, availability of some Dia Richesse shades has reduced. If you rely on it for tone-on-tone work and grey blending, it is worth reviewing your shelf now so you are not caught short mid-service.
What should you use instead?
- L'Oreal Dia Color – the closest current ammonia-free demi for rich, natural-looking deposit and grey blending.
- L'Oreal Dia Light – the acidic gloss option for translucent tone and high shine. See what Dia Light is and the Dia Light colour chart.

How to switch shades
When moving from Dia Richesse to Dia Color or Dia Light, match the depth (the number) first, then choose the reflect (the tone after the decimal point) to suit the result. Keep the same Dia Activateur developer and follow the current mixing ratio and processing time on pack. Always carry out an allergy/skin test before each service.
If you need permanent coverage instead
If a client actually needs full, opaque grey coverage rather than a demi blend, move them to a permanent colour such as Majirel or INOA – compare them in Majirel vs INOA.
