How to Use Wella Illumina Color 60ml

100% natural-looking colour with up to 100% grey coverage. Always mix with Welloxon Perfect Developer; do not mix with Koleston Perfect.

Choosing your developer (Welloxon Perfect)

• 1.9% (6 Vol): glossing and toning services (1:2)
• 4% (13 Vol): deeper results on natural hair
• 6% (20 Vol): 1 level of lift, same depth or darker, and grey coverage
• 9% (30 Vol): 2 levels of lift
• 12% (40 Vol): 3 levels of lift

Full-head application (same depth or darker)

• Mix 1:1 (60g Illumina + 60g Welloxon Perfect)
• Apply from roots to ends on dry hair
• Develop 30–40 minutes (15–25 minutes with Climazon)

Regrowth application

• Mix 1:1 and apply to the root area, starting where grey is heaviest
• Develop 30–40 minutes (15–25 minutes with Climazon)

First-time lightening

• Step 1: apply the colour mixture to lengths and ends only, leaving roughly 2cm free from the scalp. Develop 15–20 minutes
• Step 2: mix fresh colour, apply to the roots and develop for the full time (30–40 minutes, or 15–25 with Climazon)

Grey coverage

• Up to 70% grey: use any shade from Illumina Color
• 70–100% grey: mix 1:1 with the corresponding neutral shade plus Welloxon Perfect 6% (e.g. 30g 7/ + 30g 7/35 + 60g 6%/20 Vol)

Grey blending

• Mix 1:2 (30g Illumina + 60g Welloxon Perfect Pastel 1.9%)
• Enhances natural highs and lows; recommended for shade levels 5/ to 10/
• Develop 10 minutes

Blonde toning (after pre-lightening)

• Mix 1:2 (30g Illumina + 60g Welloxon Perfect Pastel 1.9%)
• Apply to lightened areas needing neutralisation first, then comb through
• Develop 5–15 minutes. Important: comb the hair every 5 minutes and check visually until the desired result is reached

Glossing

• Mix 1:2 with Welloxon Perfect Pastel 1.9% for a subtle colour and luminous shine
• Suitable for all depths, hair types and colour directions; ideal for first-time clients or reviving colour between appointments

Refresh with Shinefinity

• Apply Illumina to the roots; for the last 20 minutes of development, apply Shinefinity (mixed 1:1 with its activator) to lengths and ends
• Develop together, then rinse, for an ultra-natural finish on faded lengths

Emulsify and rinse

• After development, add a little warm water and emulsify gently
• Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear
• Shampoo and condition with colour-safe, pH-optimised care for better colour retention
